Joining and Using the Prayer Chain

Prayer is the practice of the presence of God.  It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made.  Jesus calls us to unite in prayer and James exhorts us to "pray for one another, that you may find healing."

A prayer chain is a way for people to gain assistance in prayer for any serious and pressing problem. It is also a way for any person to act on God's command to love one another (John 13:34-35). Many people cannot engage directly in ministry, but we can all pray. The commitment to pray for others is a sacred privilege and is an example of faith in action.

We welcome you to join our prayer chain, so you can pray for the requests that we receive.  Our church software has been set up to help manage our prayer chain communication.

Joining the Prayer Chain

If you are interested in being part of the prayer chain, please send an email to churchoffice@saintcharlesparish.org.  Include the following information:

Subject:  2020 Prayer Chain Team

•  Your first and last name

•  Your email address

•  Your cell phone number

•  Your home phone number

•  The method in which you’d like to be contacted when the prayer chain is activated:  text message, email, or telephone call.

When you receive a prayer request, we suggest that you pause as soon as you are able and continue praying until the Holy Spirit gives you a release that prayer has been heard.   Then be led of the Holy Spirit to continue in prayer for any request that really touches your heart. The commitment undertaken by members of the prayer chain is to pray for each current prayer item.

Members may incorporate the prayer items into their own private prayer patterns, or make other personal arrangements, as appropriate.

Activating the Prayer Chain

The purpose of our prayer chain is to provide spiritual support and healing for parishioners and their families and friends. When placing someone on the prayer chain, please obtain their permission when giving full names and circumstances. We want to respect the privacy, anonymity and confidentiality of the person(s) we are praying for.

Include the details of the prayer request (the name of the person, the situation/concern, etc.)

•  Example:  This is an immediate need to pray for my aunt/uncle who was in a serious accident.

•  Example:  This is an ongoing prayer request for me as I have recently found out that I have cancer.

Please ensure prayer requests are first-hand requests and that the individual(s) in which we will be praying for have consented that we have knowledge of their need.  If you would also like the prayer request to be shared in worship, please indicate that in the body of your message.

If you are not a member of our church community, we ask that you use initials or keep names out of your requests for reasons of confidentiality.  God knows the prayers of your heart even if we do not have specific information!

Please also note that the individuals praying for your loved ones appreciate updates on your prayer requests.  Receiving praise reports helps encourage the intercessors that their crucial work is making a difference in people’s lives. For example, if surgery is a success, let us know so we can say a prayer of thanks!  If you need continued prayer, we'd like to keep lifting you up, so please inform us of that as well.

Women's Service Group

Loving God is who we all are as Christian Women of Faith.

Connect with Others and Serve the World is exemplified in the activities of the Women's Group in our church, including the following:

  • Annual Old Settler's Ice Cream Social
  • Back to School Back-Pack Program
  • Fall Harvest Dinner
  • Christmas Giving Season (supporting families that so appreciate the extra love a church community can provide and also remembering and reaching out to our members who can no longer physically participate in our Sunday morning service).
  • Senior Breakfast/Fellowship
  • Funeral dinners, a core function of the group when families lose a loved one--a time we can show God's love, the love we have as a church, and support the families during this difficult time.

Join the Women's Group at 2:00 on the second Wednesday of each month at the Parish Hall.
